Solitude Cabins in Estes Park ~ FAQ's

Is Solitude Cabins in Estes Park located on Fall River?

Solitude Cabins is not located on Fall River.  We are located on the other side of Estes Park, near Lake Estes.  We are named Solitude as we do not have the traffic that you find on Fall River.  You will find your visit with us to be very quiet and peaceful.

Are the cabins really close together?

Our cabins are close together.  However they are still free standing vacation homes.  Many other resorts in Estes Park are condominiums, which are connected together.  We hope at our property you still feel that you are in your own home.

Are the floor plans the same?

All of the cabins are 1200 square feet.  There is a master bedroom in the downstairs with a full bathroom.  The living room has a fireplace and TV.  The kitchen is fully equipped.  All of the couches in the living room can be pulled out into a sleeper sofa.  Upstairs is another king size bed and bathroom.

What is the maximum number of people per cabin?

The total occupancy of a cabin is six.

Are they cabins or homes?

Our cabins in Estes Park are not log cabins.  They are wood paneled homes.  Each of our cabins is a privately owned home.  Each owner has gone to great lengths to decorate to in a way that reflects the Estes Park and Rocky Mountain lifestyle.

How old is your property?

The first cabins were built in 2003 with the last cabin completed in 2013.

Do you have a pool?

We do not have a pool.  We do have an outdoor hot tub that you can schedule for use for your own private time.

Do you accept pets?

We do not allow pets.  We can provide you with the name of a local boarding company if needed.

Do you have a restaurant?

We do not have a restaurant on property.  Fortunately we all like to eat and can make recommendations for Estes Park restaurants to suit your taste.

What do we need to bring?

We like to say, “All you need is food and clothing”. Each of our cabins are fully equipped with dinnerware, glassware, silverware, dishwasher, washer and dryer. So really all you do need is food and clothing.

How do you compare to other Estes Park resorts?

Solitude Cabins are one of the few resorts in Estes Park that are not connected condominiums.  We are freestanding homes with very large walk out decks.  All of the decks have furniture and a gas grill.  We also offer spectacular views of the Longs Peak and many other mountains.  A small portion of our cabins are secluded.  The majority of our cabins are built to have views. We are not near any other resorts, which makes a great opportunity to feel Solitude at the end of the day.  We really try not to compare ourselves to other properties as each has something to offer.  We are confident that if you stay at Solitude, you will look no further.  Our staff is here to make your visit to Estes Park the very best it can be!

What is there to do at Solitude Cabins and the Estes Park area?

At Solitude Cabins we specialize in all the comforts of home with the ability to relax and free your mind. You can walk right out your front door and take a stroll on the walking path, which is right across the street.  The walking path will take you all the way around Lake Estes or can lead you to the downtown area.  Solitude Cabins are a short drive to two beautiful golf courses.  One is a nine hole and the other is eighteen holes.  Both have spectacular views, and you may even find elk cheering you on in the gallery.

The downtown area offers a variety of shops, from coffee shops, T-shirts, outdoor gear, and restaurants.

Our cabins in Estes Park are close to several areas to fish.  From fishing in Lake Estes to trout fishing the rivers and lakes of Rocky Mountain National Park you are minutes away from an outdoor adventure.  We can recommend fly fishing guides as well as fishing equipment rental.

We are a ten minute drive from the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park.  Come view the beauty and wildlife from your car.  Drive over Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous motorway in the United States, for an amazing view at 12,000 feet above sea level.  Find yourself on one of the many trails and hike to quiet destinations.

Estes Park also offers white water rafting trips and horse back tours.  Really the possibilities are available for nearly every taste.  Don’t be afraid to ask Solitude’s office staff for advice.  We all have different ideas of fun and can lead you to a great time.

Or sit on the deck of your Solitude Cabin and enjoy nature at its finest throughout the day.

Solitude Cabins, Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park form a trio of fun, excitement, beauty and relaxation!

Is Estes Park a ski area?

Estes Park is not a downhill ski area.  Rocky Mountain National Park is known for hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing during the winter months.

Is the wildlife tame?

The wildlife is not tame.  All of the wildlife that you see are wild animals.  Estes Park does not maintain a herd of elk as many believe.  If you see wildlife in town or at Solitude you are a witness to nature at its very best.

Are the winters really cold and snow filled?

Contrary to popular belief the winters in Estes Park are very mild, and as a matter of fact, we have lots of sunshine throughout the winter months. We often have warm temperatures in the 40’s during winter days.  Estes Park does get snow but it doesn’t last for very long.  It snows much more at upper elevations, so if you want to enjoy snow activities you can always take a short drive and find a snowy Rocky Mountain winter.
